According to the new claims on Weibo, Xiaomi will be incorporating a fingerprint sensor underneath the display. The main highlight of the original Mi Mix phone was the front bezeless panel, consisting of a 91.3 per cent screen-to-body ratio.

There were also reports that Apple’s next iPhone will feature a fingerprint scanner underneath the display, as Apple could eliminate the home button.
The Weibo post also mentions GOODIX that recently showed off its conceptual optics fingerprints scanning tech. Xiaomi will team up with designer Phillipe Starck again for the Mi Mix 2.
To recall, the original Xiaomi Mi Mix is powered by a Snapdragon 821 processor paired with 4GB RAM and 128GB of internal storage. The Pro variant of the device comes with 6GB of RAM and 256GB of storage. Optics wise, it is equipped with a 16MP rear camera, while there is a 5MP front facing camera placed on the chin of the front panel. The smartphone was showcased at CES this year.
